Following breakfast in Kayenta - we made our way to the Grand Canyon. The view along the way was amazing! No time to nap - no time to read and I am reading a wonderful book while on this tour (
Cutting for Stone by Abraham Verghese).
In the middle of nowhere is the Cameron Trading Post with everything you'd want as a tourist in Canyonlands. Lisa and I chose to sit in the garden while others shopped. I got to read.

Next stop - the Grand Canyon! Our first stop was Desert View Watchtower. For those who had not seen the Grand Canyon, this was their first look. What a view!!! Then, on to Moran Point for another view. Every view was different! And, if you waited a few minutes, even the view you are looking at looks different due to sun and shade. After Moran Point we drove into Grand Canyon Village where we would eat lunch and spend a few hours looking around. A few of us, after eating lunch, decided to go on to the Visitor Center. There, we watched a great film about the Grand Canyon. Returning to the Grand Canyon Village - we went to the Bright Angel Lodge which overlooks the Bright Angel Fault.

After our few hours at the south rim - we boarded the bus and began putting our plans together for our full day at the Canyon tomorrow. There were some who would be taking excursions - helicopter rides over the Canyon or a 12-hour day which included a flight and a river rafting trip on the Colorado River. Others would be taking advantage of the free-shuttle along the rim and stop at various stops along the way. After a buffet dinner, we went to bed. We have a big day ahead of us!
